The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club offers instruction for girls while the JGAA Boys Golf Club offers instruction for boys 12 and under. Most local area golf courses offer summer instruction programs that are designed for beginners and experienced alike. Regional summer instructional programs for juniors are offered by the Southwest Section PGA.

WHAT IS A GOOD AGE FOR A CHILD TO BEGIN PLAYING GOLF?
It really depends on the individual child. For most it is a matter of physical strength. When the child can hold a club over their head in a "set" position, they are probably ready. Before that whiffle balls and plastic clubs are fine. Lessons should not begin until the age of 5 or 6 as the attention span is not sufficient to make something of the instruction.
|
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE JGAA AND THE SWSPGA?
The JGAA runs state level tournaments while the SWSPGA offers instruction and tournaments on a more local level. The JGAA is a suitable arena for competitive juniors seeking state level rankings to obtain college scholarships.
